What Quran Says about Women – Status of Women in Islam
And for women are rights over men similar to those of men over women.
(Qur’an, 2: 228)
Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms.”
(Qur’an, 24: 30-1)
Whatever men earn, they have a share of that and whatever women earn, they have a share in that.

O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will. On the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If you take a dislike to them, it may be that you dislike something and Allah will bring about through it a great deal of good.

O mankind! Reverence your Guardian-Lord, who created you from a single person, created, of like nature, his mate, and from this pair scattered (like seeds) countless men and women. Ibn ‘Umar Narrated :
Allah’s Apostle said: “Do not prevent women (wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, etc) from (praying at) mosques. Yet, their prayer at home is better (for them).

He once told the future khalifah, ‘Umar: “Shall I not inform you about the best treasure a man can hoard? It is a virtuous wife who pleases him whenever he looks towards her, and who guards herself when he is absent from her.”
Aisha Narrated : Allah’s Apostle said: “You (women) have been allowed to go out for your needs.”
Ibn Mas’ud Narrated :
Allah’s Apostle said: “(Unveiled) woman is a cause of corruption. Once she goes out Satan beautifies her in the eyes of men (to seduce her as well as them). At her home, she is the closest (to the face) of her Lord.”
Anas bin Malik Narrated :
The Prophet passed by a woman who was sitting and weeping beside a grave and said to her, “Fear Allah and be patient.”
Anas Narrated :
“A woman came to the Prophet offering herself to him in marriage, saying, “Have you got any interest in me (i.e. would you like to marry me?)” Anas’ daughter said, “How shameless that woman was!” On that Anas said, “She is better than you for, she presented herself to Allah’s Apostle (for marriage).”
Thawban Narrated :
Allah’s Apostle said, “Any woman who asks divorce from her husband without a reason, the smell of Paradise is prohibited for her.”
Islam has raised the status of women so high that,it has kept paradise under her feet.
Imam Husayn (a.s.) said:
“The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.) used to salute women and they used to reply his salutation. While the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (a.s.), also used to salute women, but he disliked to salute the young among the women and said, ‘I feared that her voice would admire me and thus affect me so I would commit sin more than get reward.
